Dear Jimmy, Patti, Amy, Keith, Beth, Terry and families, Your father was a wonderful example of a committed Christian. As a physician he took care of us and a lot of our family and we were sad the day he retired. We will always remember him as a caring physician as well as a dedicated doctor. He is with the Lord now and with your Mother and is smiling again. May God bless each one of you as you face

I met Dr. Hayes as a young nurse at Charleston VA where he was the Chief Medical Resident at the time. I was so scared of him as he always looked stern and didn't put up with any slacking-----I would dread to see him come make rounds and prayed that everything was alright with the patients and that I had covered all bases!! I always remembered him as I moved out of state with my husband and worked at many

Jim and I met at Old Roper, the last year it operated with only the ER open. He was an intern, I was a young RN. Wanting to learn more about everything, he served more than usual the number of rotations there. I worked a 12 hour night duty. I observed and learned from him every shared experience. He was exceptional as a diagnostition and we became friends. We conspired to send as many unaffiliated patients to Julian Buxton who

Jim was my mentor, my example to try to follow, my friend and the epitome of what we should aspire to be. I couldn't recite all of his numerous accolades, but experienced some of them in his leadership of Roper Saint Francis and seeing some of his patients he allowed me to share. Most of the good things that happened at Roper Saint Francis in the beginning would not have happened except for him. A great man who will be missed by many.

I only knew Dr. Hayes personally for a little over one year. I knew him prior to that time by reputation. And, that reputation was well known and tremendously respected by numerous people that had been blessed by his impact on their individual lives. Dr. Hayes was an extremely hard and dedicated leader in every aspect of our community in which he was involved.

I greatly enjoyed his awareness of those less fortunate than ourselves and his willingness to always seek solutions. I will miss him greatly. My deepest condolences and prayers are extended to his family.

Jim Hayes was a wonderful person & physician. I worked with him at Charleston
County Hospital back in the day when he was chief resident. I was so impressed with his ability & knowledge that I said to myself that he was going to be my doctor one day. When he finished his residency I made sure to establish myself as one of his patients. He & Barbara were at my wedding. After my husband and I married Jim and my
